The Hou 17 is the fastest boat in the Hou line up. Its original design was by Colin Broadway and was sold as the Peace River Cruiser. At 17’1” long and just 35 inches wide the boat is fast, very fast. It holds many records including the fastest Bliss Canoe Trail navigation and we believe the fastest ever Devises Westminster time for a PE canoe.
It’s a sublime balance between speed/forward paddling efficiency combined with load carrying capability. These characteristics make it an unbeatable tripping canoe for long distances and expeditions where distance is key.

Standard Spec: Tandem set up with two seats, and carrying yoke.
Hull shape description: The Hou 17 canoe was designed by Colin Broadway and is based on a hull design combining V’ed entry with a central section of shallow V hull style which is all about forward speed and efficiency. This boat simply eats the miles with ease. Its generous carrying capacity makes this the ultimate tripping canoe made from tough PE sandwich construction, giving you the reliability that you need when on a long distance back country adventure. The bow and stern have fine entry detail which also makes the boat fast and efficient.
With this being a Legacy product, we only mould in batches and normally out of the summer season so please contact us directly to discuss your requirements and relative time scales.
