Keeping You on the Water

Lifetime Support for Your Hou Canoe

We build our canoes and kayaks to last a lifetime, but if something does go wrong, we’re here to help. Whether it’s a manufacturing fault, accidental damage, or just general wear and tear, we believe in repair over replace wherever possible.

Our Warranty

We stand by the quality of our craftsmanship and materials.
That’s why we offer:

  • 2-year manufacturer’s warranty for personal use (B2C) – covering defects in materials and workmanship under normal use.

  • Fair & honest support for professional users (B2B) – While intense use in commercial settings means natural wear and tear isn’t covered, we always aim to support our professional customers with practical, affordable solutions.

  • For the original retail purchaser Hou Canoes provide a 2 year warranty against material or manufacturing defects in the hull. Parts, accessories, and outfitting (including gunwales) are warranted for a period of one 1 year against material or manufacturing defects from the date of purchase. This limited warranty is only valid with the purchase of a Hou Canoe from a Hou authorised dealer. This warranty is for the original retail purchaser and non-transferable. Your Hou canoe must be registered within 30 days of purchase to activate the warranty. Proof of purchase must be presented to make a warranty claim. Canoes sold as “2nd quality” are covered under this limited warranty for one year from the original purchase date.

What’s Covered?

  • Manufacturing defects in hull construction or outfitting.
  • Material faults that affect structural integrity.
  • Outfitting or fittings that fail under normal use.

What’s not Covered?

  • Normal wear and tear from paddling, transport, or storage.
  • Damage caused by improper use, impacts, or modifications.
  • Sun damage, scratches, or aesthetic wear.
  • Normal wear and tear and natural ageing of product. Canoes damaged by improper use, handling, storage or neglect, Canoes that have been structurally or dimensionally altered or modified. Canoes damaged by extreme weather or environmental conditions. Canoes determined to have been used for any activity other than its intended use. Canoes used for professional or commercial purposes. Canoes sold as "demos". In no event shall Hou Canoes be liable for any incidental, compensatory, punitive, consequential indirect, special or other damage and its aggregate liability with respect to a defective product shall be limited to an amount equal to the original purchase price paid for that defective product.

Once we’ve got your info, we’ll assess the issue and let you know the next steps.

If it’s a warranty claim, we’ll either:

Repair – If possible, we’ll fix the issue and get your boat back in action.

Replace – If a repair isn’t the best option, we’ll discuss a replacement.

Advise – For minor issues, we may be able to guide you through a simple fix yourself.

If a return is needed, we’ll provide a Returns Number (so we can track everything properly) and talk you through the best way to get the item back to us.

The customer is responsible for the cost of delivery to, and pickup from, the point of purchase. If the Hou authorised dealer inspects the canoe and believes there is a defect that is due to materials or workmanship, Hou will arrange to have the canoe returned to Factory or make a site visit to fully evaluate and test the fault. In the event that the fault is deemed of warrantable nature your Hou canoe will be repaired or replaced at the company’s discretion free of charge and be returned back to your point of sale. Hou reserves right to replace original canoes or equipment with comparable current products or full refund of purchase price.
